Property of militancy accused man attached in Srinagar: NIA

National Investigation Agency on Saturday morning attached the residential house of an accused in connection with case of weapon recovery in Chanapora area of Srinagar district. Sources told GNS that a NIA team along with police and CRPF this morning attached the property of an accused namely Mushtaq Ahmad son of Abdul Ganaie, Khan Colony, Chanapora, they said. The house has been attached in connection with case RC 4/22 regarding recovery of weapon, they added. Its pertinent to mention that Srinagar Police in May 2023 in Chanapora arrested two local hybrid militants of proscribed militant outfit LeT/TRF. A village defense committee member was found dead with bullet injury on his body in Doda district even as police said it was a case of suicide, police said on Friday. A top police official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the VDC member identified as Balwant Singh son of Prem Nath resident of Kharangal Gandoh was found dead near his home today morning. He said that as per preliminary investigation, the VDC member has died by suicide and a weapon was also found near his body. Meer Irfan One militant has been killed in the encounter that raged in the Chotigam area of Shopian district in south Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday forces including RR of Indian Army, Kammi Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation in the area. The operation launched following an input about militant movement, changed into an encounter when the force personnel were fired upon by the hiding militants.
