Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande on Monday said that violence levels have decreased along the Line of Control (LoC). He emphasised that the army will continue its operations to combat militants both along the LoC and in the hinterland. In an exclusive interview with ANI, the Army Chief informed that “a total of 71 militants were eliminated in Jammu  Kashmir, of which 35 were in the hinterland and another 36 as a result of successful counter-infiltration operations” in 2023. The Department of Wildlife Protection in Jammu Kashmir has allocated more than 200 kanals of land to various agencies. An application filed under the Right to Information Act by social activist MM Shuja reveals that nearly 10 kanals of land from Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary has been given to the Ministry of Defense, Government of India for laying underground optical fibre cable for the Indian Army by Director General of Signal, Ministry of Defense, GOI. The data reveals that the National Highway Authority of India has secured over 187 kanals of land owned by the Department of Wildlife Protection at two places. The orthopedic treatment facilities in Kashmir are set to receive a big boost as a 120-bed block at Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla Srinagar will be ready by the end of this financial year. The hospital suffered massive damage due to a fire in March 2022. A top health official informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the valley’s largest orthopedic hospital is all set to get a big infrastructural push with the construction of the state-of-the-art additional 120-bedded hospital block.
