Residents of scores of villages in Anantnag have complained of shortage of drinking water in their villages. Earlier this week, The Kashmiriyat reported that the locals of Panzath area protested against the construction of a pipeline project in Panzath, Qazigund. The locals expressed, “We have no issue with the pipeline if it is constructed near the dam, but the spring we have here that they want to withdraw water from has a limited discharge of water, so the pipeline will cause water shortage to us." Earthquake hits Afghanistan, jolts felt across Kashmir

On Saturday night, mild tremors shook Kashmir, creating panic among locals in several areas of the region. According to LastQuake, on Saturday evening, an earthquake of 5.0 magnitude hit the Hindukush region in Afghanistan 36.0642 N; 70.0311 E. The epicentre of the earthquake was 168 kilometres inside the earth and at a distance of 119 km east of Baghlān in Afghanistan. Several districts from the valley including Anantnag, Kulgam, Srinagar, Shopian, Bandipora, Kupwara among others reported the jolts. As per initial reports, no damage has been reported from the quake.

A family from Srinagar has pleaded to the public and Police to help them trace their kin after he has gone missing from his home. As per news report, Basharat Ahmed Bhat son of late Ali Mohammed Bhat, a resident of Naid Kadal, Srinagar has been missing for the last six days. In a video circulated on social media, his sister has a tearful appeal asking him to return home. “We have looked for him everywhere, he is nowhere to be found. If we made any mistakes, please forgive us, but come back to us”, she added. According to his sister, Basharat left home on 04 February, 2024 and has not returned since. In Pattan area of Baramulla, a teenage youth attacked his own brother with an axe over a land dispute. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the dispute between the siblings in Hanjivera Pattan after which Muzaffar Ahmed Dar was critically wounded. They said that on on Saturday afternoon a verbal brawl started between the two, which resulted in a heated argument and it soon changed into a physical fight.
