In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old youth from Sopore who was seriously injured after being hit by his brother in a family fight three days ago has passed away due today morning. Sources told News Agency Kashmir Scroll, Abid Rashid Bhat (22) resident of Warpora Payeen sustained serious injuries during a fight with his brother. Despite being in a coma for several days, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries today. Severe cold conditions continued in Jammu Kashmir with Pahalgam recording a low of minus 11.0°C and Gulmarg minus 10.5°C respectively on Tuesday, officials said. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 2.4°C against minus 0.4°C on the previous night and it was below normal by 2.0°C for the summer capital of J&K for this time of the year. In January 2024, the Kashmir region and certain areas of the Jammu region experienced unusually high temperatures, marking it as the warmest January on record. The absence of snowfall and inactive Western Disturbances contributed to extraordinarily high temperatures, reaching more than 8°C above normal levels on some days during the month. At 11.7°C, Srinagar experienced its warmest-ever mean maximum temperature in January, tying with the years 2001 and 1902. Meanwhile, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Qazigund, Kokernag, and Kupwara observed their highest-ever temperatures. ‘Being abused, assaulted by passengers’: E-bus drivers staged protest in Srinagar against constant harassment

On Monday, February 5, 2024 several e-bus drivers staged a protest near Pantha Chowk, Srinagar regarding harassment from passengers. One of the protesting drivers said that one of their colleagues was ruthlessly beaten by a passenger  and during the assault he was injured. "The driver is hospitalised and is undergoing treatment at the hospital," he said. He further added that they complained to authorities regarding the constant harassment by passengers, however, they received no response from the administration as of yet. Policeman found dead under mysterious conditions at DPL Kupwara

Rayees Shah A policeman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Kupwara Police lines. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning a Police  Constable identified as  Mohammed Arif Shiekh was found dead under mysterious conditions at District Police Lines in Kupwara. Aged 25, and son of Ghulam Nabi Shiekh from Nandimarg DH Pora Kulgam, Arif was deputed at the E-coy IR-4th camp DPL Kupwara. His colleague found him unconscious after which was promptly shifted to SDH Kupwara for medical attention. Unfortunately, medical professionals declared him brought dead upon arrival. The local police are working to gather more information regarding the incident.
