Man posing as under secretary J&K Raj Bhawan arrested in Jammu

The Jammu Kashmir Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested a man posing as under secretary with Raj Bhawan even as probe is underway. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the man was arrested by CICE Jammu unit of Crime Branch after taking cognizance in case FIR 03/2024. He has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Wagay, son of Ghulam Nabi Wagay of Waskora, Ganderbal. The official said that some incriminating material including fake ID cards, seals and other documents used in the commission of crime has also been seized from his possession. A fire damaged one of the oldest Shia mosques here in Ladakh, hours before the start of night prayers of ‘Shab-e-Barat’, officials said on Monday. The fire broke out at Balti Bazar masjid at 6.15 pm Sunday and within no time engulfed the entire structure, an official of the fire and emergency services said. He said fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was controlled within three hours, avoiding damage to nearby structures including an adjoining ‘Imam Barah’ and residential houses. PTI

The notice issued by the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PDD, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), has stressed the urgency of settling outstanding dues to avoid disruption in power service. The department has set a deadline for consumers to promptly clear their outstanding bills to avoid disconnection. It warned that the failure to comply may result in the halt of the services. Three persons have been booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged involvement in "anti-national" activities. According to police, three Bandipora residents were arrested and subsequently booked under the PSA for their "continuous" involvement in Anti-National activities. The trio was identified as Sheikh Danish son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Aloosa, Ghulam Mohmmad Waza son of Ghulam Qadir Waza, reisdent of Bagh Bandipora and Mohammed Amin Rather son of Mohammed Maqsood Rather, a resident of Rather Mohalla Ajas.
