Prominent academician from Kashmir AG Madhosh passes away

Abdul Gani Madhosh, a prominent educationist from Srinagar has passed away in Kashmir. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the renowned educationist and former dean faculty of education and director state resource centre in University of Kashmir, Dr Abdul Gani Madhosh passed away following a brief illness residence in Srinagar on Saturday morning. Professor Madhosh has made significant contributions to education policy and planning, having played crucial roles at both the state and national levels. His death has been widely condoled and people from all the sections of the society are visiting his residence in large numbers. He will be laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Kashmir capital.

IIPS student arrested for remarks over Ram temple construction

A student of the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) was arrested for allegedly posting a story on WhatsApp in protest against the celebration of the consecration of the Ayodhya Ram Temple on January 22. BSF trooper from Kashmir dies in West Bengal

A Border Security Forces (BSF) Jawan from North Kashmir’s Kupwara district died after drowning in a river in West Bengal on Thursday evening. Official sources told Kashmir Scroll that Reyaz Ahmad Rather, the son of Ghulam Ahmad Rather from the Macncher Lolab area of Kupwara, who served as a BSF Jawan stationed in West Bengal, lost his life due to drowning on Thursday evening. Seven new industrial estates coming up in Jammu Kashmir

The Jammu Kashmir administration has approved the setting up of seven new industrial estates at a cost of Rs 304.51 crore, a DIPR statement said. The estimated investment in these industrial estates, spread over 5,290 kanal across six districts, is Rs 8,700.16 crore with employment potential of 28376 persons. Freezing temperatures continue across Kashmir valley

Amid largely clear skies, freezing night temperature continued unabated and stayed several degrees Celsius below normal in Kashmir Valley with Gulmarg recording a low of minus 10.0°C and Pahalgam minus 9.5°C on Friday, officials said. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 2.6°C and it was below normal by 1.0°C for the summer capital of J&K for this time of the year, he said.
