Reports suggest that a meeting, reportedly with political undertones, was convened at the residence of a retired police officer, with former minister and NC leader Mian Altaf in attendance. Given Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit scheduled for tomorrow, the authorities on Wednesday announced a traffic advisory for motorists and commuters. “Traffic movement from Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh and Rajbagh to LD Hospital-Tulsi Bagh route will be restricted from 4:00 AM to 7:00 PM,” as per the advisory, issued by the Traffic Police, Srinagar. IG Traffic, Bhim Sen Tuti (IPS), addressing a presser, said that the Jahangir Chowk–Solina–Ram Bagh stretch will remain restricted for the civilian traffic movement. A court here on Wednesday sentenced a man to imprisonment for life for throwing acid on a woman at Hawal here on 1 February 2022. The court of Principal Sessions Judge Srinagar Jawad Ahmed announced the sentence against the main convict, Sajid Altaf Sheikh of Buchwara Dalgate in a jam packed court, according to GNS correspondent present there. The University of Kashmir on announced postponement of exams scheduled on Thursday. (March 7, 2024) “It is notified for the information of all concerned candidates that all the examinations of University of Kashmir, which were scheduled to be held on 07/03/2024 stand postponed,” reads a notification. “Fresh dates shall be issued soon,” reads the notification further.
