Shabir Ali The residents of Pantha Chowk in Srinagar staged a protest on Tuesday morning to demand the completion of a footbridge in the area. Raising slogans against the administration, the locals including women and children from Summerbugh said that despite so many years having passed the construction of the bridge has not been completed. They said that the construction of the footbridge  at Pantha Chowk was laid in 2017 by the former Minister for Public Works. The bridge was laid down to connect the areas of Sunmerbugh, Karnabal with the Pantha Chowk. Danishwar Hameed A man died after the vehicle he was driving rolled down the road and fell into Chenab River on Srinagar-Jammu highway. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday a dumper vehicle  beating the registration number JK18D 1453 fell into Chenab river at Sherbibi area of Banihal, resulting in the death of the driver and injuries to two others. The deceased was identified as Nawaz Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammed Amin Bhat, a resident of Laisoo, Kulgam. Two others injured in the accident were identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Wagay, son of Bashir Ahmad wagay and Zubair Ahmad sofi son of Mushtaq Ahmed sofi, both resident of Damhal Hanjipora in Kulgam. Shah Basit A man was killed during a road accident in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, an official said that on Tuesday afternoon, man was hit by a vehicle in Nunner area on Ganderbal, leading to his on spot death. The deceased was been identified as Khurshid Ahmed Baba son of Mohammed Shafi Baba, a resident of Bab Mohalla in Ganderbal's Buchpora. Police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and the driver has been arrested.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, former chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir is likely to step aside his candidature from Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat, sources informed The Kashmiriyat. However, the party so far has not made any official announcements yet. Top sources within Democratic Progressive Azad Party, who wished to remain anonymous said that the party is holding wider deliberations in this regard in all district headquarters including Srinagar and Anantnag.
