Four dead, several missing as boat crossing Jhelum capsizes in Srinagar

Four persons  lost their lives, three others were reduced after a boat capsized in overflowing river Jhelum near Batwara area of Srinagar. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday, a boat ferrying at least twenty people including school going children capsized while crossing the Jhelum river in Srinagar. This led to the drowning of all those on the boat triggering panic in the entire area. Immediately after the incident, a rescue operation was launched and seven persons were evacuated to the hospital. Those evacuated to the hospital include mother and her two sons. Hospital officials said that four persons have died in the incident while three other are undergoing treatment. Three students die as a boat capsizes in Srinagar

In a tragedy, three students have been declared dead as the boat capsized in central Kashmir's Srinagar district on Tuesday morning. An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a boat drowned along with some children who were crossing the river Jehlum from Gandbal to Batwara in central Kashmir's Srinagar district. However,  with the swift action of river police, all the students were rescued and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, sources informed news agency Kashmir Scroll that three of them were declared dead on arrival. A police officer told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a case in this regard has been registered and further investigation has been initiated. (KS)

A woman was killed and eight others were injured after a speeding SUV hit them in Charsoo area of Pulwama’s Awantipora on Monday, officials said. An official said that the accident took place when the vehicle was on way from Jammu to Srinagar. Man allegedly murders his mother in Baramulla

An elderly woman was allegedly killed by her son in Rafiabad area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district. An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a lady (name withheld) aged 48 years old resident of Hadipora Sopore was allegedly attacked by her son with knife and injured her critically, after which she was immediately taken to Sub-district hospital Sopore where doctors declared her brought dead on arrival.
