Four persons  lost their lives, three others were reduced after a boat capsized in overflowing river Jhelum near Batwara area of Srinagar. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday, a boat ferrying at least twenty people including school going children capsized while crossing the Jhelum river in Srinagar. This led to the drowning of all those on the boat triggering panic in the entire area. Immediately after the incident, a rescue operation was launched and seven persons were evacuated to the hospital. Those evacuated to the hospital include mother and her two sons. Hospital officials said that four persons have died in the incident while three other are undergoing treatment. A woman was killed and eight others were injured after a speeding SUV hit them in Charsoo area of Pulwama’s Awantipora on Monday, officials said. An official said that the accident took place when the vehicle was on way from Jammu to Srinagar. He said that injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital and three of the critically injured have been rushed to SMHS hospital in Srinagar. An elderly woman was allegedly killed by her son in Rafiabad area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district. An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a lady (name withheld) aged 48 years old resident of Hadipora Sopore was allegedly attacked by her son with knife and injured her critically, after which she was immediately taken to Sub-district hospital Sopore where doctors declared her brought dead on arrival. The official further said that soon after the incident police reached the spot and arrested the accused son involved in the crime. He identified the accused as Amir Farooq Wani.
