A 19-year-old Muslim student of a university in Maharashtra’s Pune city has been allegedly beaten up by five unidentified persons who accused him of engaging in “love jihad”, police said on Tuesday. The victim said he was walking on the campus after lunch with a group of friends when they were allegedly accosted by a group of people who began interrogating them about their names, whereabouts and asked them to show their Aadhaar cards. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when the male student was accompanying two female students on the campus of the state-run Savitribai Phule Pune University, an official from Chatushringi police station said. Fisherman dies after boat capsizes in Wular Lake

A 45-year-old fisherman died after his boat capsized in the Wular Lake in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday morning. An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a 45-year-old fisherman identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Kawa son of Ghulam Mohammad Kasa of Kanibathy Bandipora was on his way to catch the fishes in Wular lake when his boat capsized. He said that after hectic efforts his body was retrieved from the lake. Meanwhile, a police officer told news agency Kashmir Scroll that the body has been taken to district hospital Bandipora and after proper legal medical formalities body ll be handed over to family for last rites. Militants attacked non-local driver in the southern region of Kashmir on Monday evening, sources said. A top police officer told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Scroll that Terrorists fired upon a non-local driver, identified as Paramjit Singh, a resident of Delhi in Shopian district, and injured him critically. He said that the injured driver was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was referred to a Srinagar medical institution for advanced treatment.
