Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei has agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of over 2,000 prisoners. On the occasion of Iranian New Year and Eid al-Fitr, Ayatollah Khamenei has agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of 2,127 convicts upon a proposal by Iranian Judiciary Chief Gholmhossein Mohseni-Ejei. A man was hospitalized after being stabbed by a group of unidentified persons in Batamaloo area of Central Kashmir Srinagar District on Saturday evening. Reliable sources told Srinagar Based news agency Kashmir Scroll that one Shabir Ahmad, a resident of Mehjoor Nagar, was subdued and stabbed by the unidentified persons at Rek Chowk Batamaloo. "The person suffered injuries in the incident and was immediately taken to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment, where his condition is said to be stable," said the sources. The Jammu Kashmir Police booked two persons under Public Safety Act in Baramulla district. In a statement issued to press, the police spokesperson said, “Two persons namely Abdul Rashid Sheikh son of Ali Mohammed resident of Lalpora Kharkhal Kunzer and Mohammed Akbar Malik son of Abdul Gani resident of Lalpora Wanikhal Kunzer under Public Safety Act for Anti-national activities." The booked persons have been detained and subsequently lodged in district jail Udhampur, Police said. "Pertinently, several cases are registered against these persons and were involved in disturbance of Law and Order and subversion.
