Startling data released by the traffic headquarters in Jammu Kashmir has shed light on the alarming number of road accidents in the region, with a huge toll on human lives and well-being. Over the past five years, J&K has witnessed a total of 28,896 road accidents, resulting in 4,251 fatalities and 37,725 injuries, the data, accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveals. Jammu region has recorded the highest number of road accidents. In 2019, Jammu reported 3,907 road accidents, leading to 695 fatalities and 4,987 injuries, while the Kashmir division recorded 1,889 accidents, resulting in 301 deaths and 2,545 injuries. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to conduct a trial run of the 3.5 km long emergency landing facility on the Jammu-Srinagar highway at Bijbehara while as the authorities have made elaborate arrangement by deploying security forces and setting up radars and other technical equipment including CCTV's to ensure smooth experiment, the officials said on Monday. Shabir Ali A teenage boy was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon in the Srinagar district of Kashmir on Sunday evening. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that a teenager  Farhan Ahmed, son of Mohammad Rafiq Wagay, a resident of Maloora was attacked with a knife on his head, causing a critical injury to him.
