Mercury crosses 36°C in Srinagar, third-highest in July history
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, has recorded its third-highest temperature for the month of July, reaching 36.2 degrees Celsius amidst a persistent heat wave.
The Meteorological Department (MeT) said this temperature marks the hottest day of the season so far in Srinagar.
Speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director MeT Kashmir, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said, "The all-time highest maximum temperature in Srinagar for July is 38.3 degrees Celsius, recorded on July 10, 1946, followed by 37 degrees Celsius on July 9, 1999. Today, Srinagar recorded the third-highest day temperature at 36.2 degrees Celsius."
