Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, has recorded its third-highest temperature for the month of July, reaching 36.2 degrees Celsius amidst a persistent heat wave. The Meteorological Department (MeT) said this temperature marks the hottest day of the season so far in Srinagar. Speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director MeT Kashmir, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said, "The all-time highest maximum temperature in Srinagar for July is 38.3 degrees Celsius, recorded on July 10, 1946, followed by 37 degrees Celsius on July 9, 1999. Three bodies that were retrieved from Dal Lake near Foreshore Road in Srinagar yesterday have been identified as Ramban residents even as police said further investigation is going on. Three dead bodies were recovered from Dal Lake area of central Kashmir in Srinagar district on Saturday. An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that three bodies were found in Dal Lake at Foreshore road near Shalimar ghat. Srinagar Police official said that they recovered three dead bodies from the Dal Lake area this evening. The deceased include a female (aged about 28 years old) and two minor children, one male and one female. In this regard, police have taken cognizance and proceedings under relevant sections of law have been initiated. Further investigation into the matter is going on, police said. The dead bodies have been shifted to SMHS hospital for post-mortem examination, he added.

An Indian Army personnel was killed and four others, including a captain, were injured on Saturday when the Army thwarted an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) in the Kamakari sector of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, according to military sources.
