An army personnel was injured in an encounter with militants attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, Jammu Kashmir, on Saturday, according to security officials. The encounter took place in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector when army troops stationed along the LoC spotted a group of militants trying to cross into Indian territory. Upon interception, a firefight ensued between the forces and the infiltrators. This marks the second infiltration attempt in the Nowshera sector within a week. Ghulam Qadir Wani, the former chief of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami, has signaled potential support for Engineer Rashid in the upcoming Jammu Kashmir Assembly elections, Kashmir Bulletin reported. Wani indicated that the Jamaat is considering backing Rashid in specific constituencies. “We are thinking of providing support on some seats to him. In a handout to GNS, the police said that apropos some media reports regarding detentions made by police, it is stated that some mischevious elements having past conduct and proclivity of disrupting the electoral process and having criminal antecedents are being dealt and bound down under preventive sections of Law following due procedure of law. The Jammu Kashmir High Court has granted anticipatory bail to a Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force, who is facing charges of rape, following an FIR registered by the Budgam police, Indian Express reported. The alleged incident occurred on January 1, 2024. The court allowed the investigation to proceed but directed that no chargesheet be filed without its approval. The court emphasized that the officer's arrest could jeopardize both his reputation and his career. The officer has been asked to provide two solvent sureties of Rs 50,000 each, along with a personal bond of the same amount. Two militants have been killed during the  encounter that broke out between government forces and militants in the Chak Tapper Kreeri area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir. Sources from The Kashmiriyat that on Friday and intense gunfight ensued after security forces cordoned off the area, suspecting the presence of two to three militants. As of Saturday morning, two militants have been confirmed killed in the ongoing operation. The situation remains tense, with security forces continuing their efforts to secure the area.
