BSF trooper shoots self to death in Kathua

A Border Security Forces trooper shot himself to death with his rifle in Bobiya area in Kathua district on Thursday afternoon. An official told News Vibes of India that a trooper of 159 Battalion BSF, who was currently undergoing AMR Handling Course with 82 Bn BSF at Bobiya, shot himself with his rifle. "The trooper was soon after evacuated to SDH Hiranagar, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival," the official said. "The mortal remains have been kept at SDH Hiranagar mortuary and inquest proceedings in the meantime initiated to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step taken by the trooper," added the official. The Jammu Kashmir government has announced the restoration of the November-December academic session for classes 1 to 9 starting from the 2024-25 academic year. For classes 10 to 12, the academic session will be shifted to February-March beginning in 2025. In an official order issued on Wednesday, Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, Suresh Kumar Gupta, instructed the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to conduct the exams for classes 10th to 12th starting in February 2025 and complete them by the end of March 2025.
