Police on Tuesday said that in a decisive step against narcotics trafficking, Police have attached the property of a known drug trafficker, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Five encounters in the first five days of November have been reported in Kashmir Valley. The data available with the news agency Kashmir News Trust reveals that these 5 gunfights in 5 days of November broke out in various locations, including Srinagar's Khanyar, Bandipora's Penner area and Ketsun forests, Lolab in Kupwara, and Shangus Anantnag forest area. Member of Parliament from Srinagar constituency, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi on Wednesday said that the government led by Omar Abdullah has fulfilled its promises on moving the resolution on special status on the first day of business in the J-K Legislative Assembly. One unidentified militant has been killed in an overnight gunfight in Lolab Forests in North Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesday. Official sources told GNS that one militant has been killed in an operation which commenced yesterday late evening. The operation in the area is still underway. On Tuesday late evening, a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Lolab Forests after receiving a specific input about presence of some militants.(GNS)
