Two CRPF jawans and two policemen were injured in an encounter with terrorists in the Khanyar area here on Saturday, officials said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khanyar in the morning following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, they said. The search operation turned into an encounter as the terrorists opened fire at the search party, which retaliated, they said. A trooper was killed due to accidental fire at Rawalpora area of Srinagar outskirts, official said Saturday. Suhail Dar At least five persons were hospitalised due to a suspected case of food poisoning at a hotel in Pahalgam tourist resort of Anantnag district in south Kashmir. Hospital sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday afternoon five residents of Srinagar were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning at a lodge in the Laripora area of Pahalgam. After taking ill, they were rushed to  nearby hospital in Pahalgam, from where the doctors referred them to Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag for further treatment. The individuals have been identified as Tawheed Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed; Burhan, son of Bashir Ahmed; Irfath Ahmed, son of Mohammed Ramzan; Owais, son of Abdul Rashid; and Inam, son of Mohammed Shafi—all residents of Srinagar.

Unknown gunmen suspected to be militants fired upon two non-locals in Mazhama Magam area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday evening. A top police officer told GNS that militants this evening fired upon two non-locals near Mazahama resulting injuries to the both persons.
