One militant killed in ongoing Bandipora encounter

An unidentified Militant has been killed in an ongoing operation in Ketsun area of North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday. Sources told GNS that in initial exchange of fire one militant has been killed. His identity will be ascertained once encounter is over. A joint team of Police and army had launched cordon and search operation in the Bandipora after receiving a specific input. More details awaited.(GNS)

An exchange of gunfire has been  reported between militants and government forces in the Ketsun forest area of Bandipora, North Kashmir. Earlier last week, suspected militants attacked an army camp in Pannar area of Bandipora, following which a massive search operation was launched in the forest area. The search was called off stating that the militants managed to escape from the spot. The encounter comes days after the encounter in Khanyar in Srinagar where one militant Usman Bhai was killed.

Education Minister Sakina Itoo Tuesday said that government will examine and take action against those private schools that are violating the norms. Speaking with reporters, Sakina said that government has already notified norms and criteria regarding charging of tuition and other charges. She said that private schools in Jammu Kashmir are being regulated by the government and those hiking fee in violation of norms will be taken to task. “If in case any private schools is working against the rules and norms framed by the government, the concerned authorities will accordingly examine and take action against those institutions,” she said—(KNO)

"Speaker sahab, main Syed Ali Shah Geelani sahab ko kharaji aqeedat pesh karta houn woh iss aiwaan ke muazaz member rahe hain" ("Mr. Speaker, I pay tribute to Syed Ali Shah Geelani. He has been a respected member of the house"), Veeri said. Geelani, who served as a member of the legislative assembly three times from Sopore—winning in 1972, 1977, and 1987—later joined the separatist camp following the eruption of militancy in 1989.
