Police on Sunday said that it have arrested a man for mercilessly beating his two minor children, aged five and three years, in the Panchari area of District Udhampur. In a handout to GNS, the police said that the incident came to light after a disturbing video went viral on social media, showing Sudesh Kumar S/O Late Sh. Parkash Chand R/O Naagni Chulna brutally assaulting his children. The police spokesman further said that upon becoming aware of the viral video, a team of Police Station Panchari was promptly deployed to investigate the matter. An army jawan was critically injured during an ongoing operation against terrorists in the Gujjarpati area of Sopore north Kashmir on Monday. Reliable sources told news agency JKNS that the army jawan was critically injured during an ongoing operation that began yesterday when terrorists opened fire on a search party of security forces. "As the troops moved closer to the suspected hideout, they came under heavy fire, which was retaliated effectively," the officer said, adding that two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. MBBS and BDS Interns in Jammu Kashmir are still grappling with a modest monthly stipend of Rs 12,300, despite the recommendations made by a committee formed in June 2023. The committee had proposed an increase in the stipend to Rs 26,350, which would align it with half the basic pay of a Medical Officer in the region, in accordance with NMC guidelines. An Army soldier died by suicide at the Ragni post in North Kashmir's Kupwara district on Sunday late night. Official sources told news agency JKNS that the soldier died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound using his service weapon. A top police officer told JKNS that on a specific input a cordon and search operation was launched in Gujjarpati Sopore by a joint team of Police and army on Sunday afternoon.
