Protest in Tral over Blasphemous Viral Video

Peaceful protest and rallies were held and organised by the locals of Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu Kashmir earlier today over the viral video of a Sadhu instigating hate – speech and blasphemous remarks over the Muslim community and their belief in Prophet Muhammad.

Protests and large gatherings in this pandemic without precautionary measures can be fatal and worrisome for the civilians. Social distancing was not maintained but most of the protesters were wearing masks while some of them did not. The fact that the protests are happening in the middle of the lockdown of this pandemic raises certain issues regarding the out break of the virus, but also highlighted the issue of blasphemy that may disrupt the communal harmony in Jammu Kashmir.

The video sparked protests and shut downs in Jammu Kashmir.

The Sadhu who was identified in the video along with 2 other men are residents of Reasi, Jammu.

The protesters said that an action must be immediately taken and the alleged hate monger Mukesh Singh (the Sadhu) along with the 2 men in video (Satpal Sharma – affirmative, Deepak – absconding) must be hanged till death for their hurtful remarks over their religion and faith.
