23 Youth have Joined Militancy in First Four Months of 2019

The Militant recruitment has come down manifold as claimed by Indian Security agencies. The Government Forces have claimed that In the first four months of year 2019, 23 youth joined militancy while for the same period in year 2018, 30 youth had joined the militancy.

“These revelations surfaced during the internal assessment of police which is in place ever since killing of militant commander Burhan Wani in July 2016,” a report read.

The Agencies further claimed that families have played a crucial role in keeping their children away from gun,” he added. He added that stone pelting incidents have also significantly declined in Kashmir.

“No major incident happened in the militant recruitment and stone pelting hubs districts of South Kashmir Islamabad (anantnag), Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian, Stone pelting has also reduced by 60 percent,” the report quoted the officer as saying.

There has been an increased recruitment of local youth into Militant groups after the killing of Burhan Wani in 2016. More than 400 local youth have joined Militant outfits since.
