24 Votes Polled out of 4900 in Native of Slain Militant Commander, Bashir Lashkar, 2 Out of 5400 where he was Killed

Amid a low voter turnout, the Souf Shali area in Kokernag belt of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) district witnessed a low voting percentage.

Out of 4900 votes, only 24 votes were polled in Souf Shali which is the native of slain commander, Bashir Ahmed Wani, clashes had also erupted in the area late on Monday night and early on Tuesday morning.

The family of the slain commander, whose name figured in the first list of Most wanted Militant commanders in 2017 as an A++ Category Militant.

On 01 July, he was killed during an encounter with Government Force’s including 19RR of Indian Army in Breenti area of Dialgam in Islamabad (anantnag).

Hours later, Bashir was killed with his Pakistani associate in this area, that witnessed day long clashes on Tuesday as the area went to polls.

Here, in Breenti, where Bashir Lashkar was killed, a total of 2 votes were polled out of 5400 total votes, In Palpora 1 Vote was polled out of 530 and in Shichan 15 out of 2700.

By 3 PM, the voting percentage in the entire district was at 11.22 Percent.

The Islamabad (anantnag) assembly segment witnessed the lowest turnout at 2 percent, while the highest turnout was witnessed in Pahlalgam- 18.3 Percent.
