Police said that Adam lives with his family in the Santosh Bhawan area of Nalasopara. His father Sher Mohammad Khan said that Adam is admitted to ICU of a private hospital in Kandivali.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Sher Mohammed Khan said that the incident took place on November 29 when the family was sleeping and Adam was going to a nearby toilet. “While he was walking, a man identified as Mukesh Dubey suddenly appeared, pointed towards Adam and started shouting chor chor,” he said, adding “they hit him on the head and leg”.
However, the police claimed that Adam broke into a jewellery shop and was caught while trying to steal the valuables. In a hurry, six to seven people reached the spot and started fighting with him.
A video clip of the incident has gone viral on social media, in which some people are seen thrashing, punching and even hitting the 27-year-old man with iron rods. The local people gathered around the spot informed the police, after which personnel from Pelhar police station arrived.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of assault. Sub-inspector Anil Maske said, “Five people were arrested for brutally attacking Adam. We also registered an FIR of attempt to theft against Adam in which the owner of Jai Bhavani Jewellers is the complainant.

With the beef ban laws, hijab laws, and new fear-mongering on love jihad, attacks increased a hundredfold. Muslims’ homes and shops were burned down or bulldozed and men, women, and youth were brutally attacked.
Muslims, being a minority of around 16% of the Indian population do feel threatened. It is imperative that the government gives them assurance of safety. As is the case, minorities usually suffer harder in the hands of the majority and are always more vulnerable and threatened. The majority gets the edge off every battle.
