Authorities did not allow congregational prayers in Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid for the 27th consecutive Friday today.
Jamia Masjid has mostly remained closed post the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. The last time prayers were allowed in the mosque was in August 2021, after which the mosque was shut by the authorities.
Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, the body that manages the affairs of the mosque, expressed strong resentment over the decision.
The force personnel was deployed in large numbers and the gates of the mosque locked disallowing the entry of devotees into the grand mosque.
