The Government Forces on Wednesday claimed to have busted three militant modules operating in the area and made nine arrests in Awantipora area of South Kashmir.
Detailing the incident, the Police said that a joint team arrested five members of the module from Awantipora and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
The arrested people were identified as as Manzoor Ahmad Dar, a resident of Nowpora Arwani, Shahid Manzoor resident of Jawbara Awantipora, Mohammad Hussain, resident of Nowpora Arwani, Zahid Ahmad Dar, resident of Redwani Kulgam and Rizwan Ahmad Pandit, resident of Awantipora.
The Police said that the five have been involved in carrying UBGL attacks on National Highway.
In second instance, the forces busted second militant module by arresting two members of the module identified as Towseef Ahmad and Shahwaiz Ahmad Wani, residents of Chursoo.
Two more members were arrested in a third incident who have been identified as Gowhar Ahmad Dar, resident of Renzipora and Showkat Ahmad, resident of Khiram, Islamabad.
The Police statement claimed a huge quantity of Arms and Ammunition including incriminating material was recovered from their possession.
