3-year-old kid injured in stray dog attack in Pattan, Second incident of the month

A three-year-old kid was seriously injured in a dog attack in Singhpora village of Pattan town here in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

This was the second attack from the stray dogs in the same village. Earlier in the first week of this month stray dogs had mauled a 12-year old boy to death.

Locals who staged a protest forcing Tehsildar Singhpora to visit the spot said that a kid identified as Hadi Ali son of Shabir Ahmed, a resident of KP Payeen, Hanjiveera Singhpora was attacked by dogs when he ventured out from his house. Locals somehow saved him from the clutches of the dogs, but he sustained injuries and was shifted to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Locals alleged that Srinagar Municipal Corporation after capturing dogs in parts of Srinagar drop them in Pattan area during night hours-an an allegation vehemently refuted by Tehsildar Singhpora Saqib Murtaza.

Murtaza told news agency Kashmir News Trust that he along with the police parties from Mir Gund and Pattan visited the Singhpora village and pacified the protesters.

“We have already directed Animal Husbandry Department and Municipal Committee to take measures so that dog population could be controlled,” he said.

Meanwhile, a police official said that the condition of the boy is stable.

Pertinently, in the first week of this month, a 12-year-old boy Azan Manzoor had gone missing from the Gund Ibrahim Singhpora village and after a hectic search, his body that was mauled by stray dogs was retrieved from a local nallah. (KNT)
