31-year-old Hyderabad businesswoman arrested for abducting TV anchor to marry him

A 31-year-old businesswoman has been arrested on charges of stalking and abducting a television music channel anchor with the purported intention of marriage, Hindustan Times reported.

The accused, identified as Bhogireddy Trishna, a digital marketing business operator, allegedly developed an obsession with TV anchor Pranav Sistla after stumbling upon his photos on a matrimonial website two years ago.

Having discovered Pranav’s phone number through an extensive search of his profile, Trishna reached out to him via instant messaging. Pranav, however, informed her that someone unknown had misused his photo to create a fake account on the matrimonial site, and he had already reported the incident to the Cyber Crime police station.

Undeterred by this revelation and determined to marry Pranav, Trishna persisted in sending messages. Nevertheless, her advances were thwarted when Pranav blocked her number.

Undeterred by the setback, Trishna allegedly formulated a plan to abduct Pranav, believing that she could resolve matters through this extreme measure. To execute her plan, she reportedly enlisted the help of four individuals to kidnap the anchor and even went as far as installing a tracking device on his car to monitor his movements.

On February 11, the hired individuals reportedly abducted Pranav, subjecting him to physical assault at Trishna’s office. Fearing for his safety, Pranav acquiesced to answering the woman’s calls, and only then was he released, according to police statements.

Following this harrowing experience, Pranav filed a complaint with the Uppal police station, resulting in the registration of a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including kidnapping, wrongful restraint, and wrongful confinement.

In the ongoing investigation, law enforcement has apprehended the accused woman and the four men she allegedly hired for the abduction. Further inquiries are currently underway.

“A kidnapping case was registered in the Malkajgiri subdivision, under the Uppal police station by Pranav Sista, a software engineer and TV Anchor against a woman named Bogireddy Trishna who wanted to marry him. Pranav refused to marry her. The woman has been arrested by Uppal police, and the search for others is underway. Using technical evidence, the case is registered, and she will be sent to court,” stated K Purushotham Reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri.
