44 Civilian Killings; October of 2021 alone witnessed 14 civilian killings

2021 was a witness to 44 civilian killings with the month of October witnessing 14 killings. Many civilians were targeted during this month.

Suspected Militants killed a school principal Satinder Kaur from Allochi Bagh and another teacher Deepak Chand killed in school premises at Safakadal Srinagar.

On 29 March, two councilors of Bhartiya Janta Party, Riyaz Ahmad Peer, and shams-ud -din were shot dead in Sopore militant attack.

On 27 June, the wife of SPO Raja Begum and daughter Rafiya Jan was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Awantipora.

On 15 November, Mohammad Altaf Bhat labeled as OGW was killed in the Hyderpora encounter and later declared as civilian killed in cross-firing as made human shield by militant. Dr. Mudasir, another civilian was also killed during the firing.

On 2nd January, a 70-year-old jeweler Satpal Singh Nischal was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the Sarai Bala area of Srinagar.

On 27 January, Nadif Ahmad Khan was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Srinagar’s Soura area.

On 28 February, Krishna Dhaba’s owner’s son Akash Mehra was shot dead at his Dhaba in Sonwar, Srinagar.

On 29 March, two councilors Riyaz Ahmad Peer and shams-ud -din were shot dead in Sopore militant attack.

On 26 May mother-daughter duo sustained critical injuries in the Handwara blast and after some days both succumbed to their injuries one after another. As per police, they had picked grenades from the forest while picking collard greens. The duo was identified as Sara begum and Gulnaza Bano.

On 29 May, two youth Sanjeet Parrey and Shahnawaz Bhat were killed by unknown gunmen at Jablipora Bijbehara.
On 2nd June, BJP leader Rakesh Pandita was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama.

On 12 June, unknown gunmen shot dead two persons in Sopore town in Baramulla district. The duo was identified as Bashir Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad of Kral Teng.

On 23 June, Unidentified gunmen shot dead a shopkeeper Umar Nazir Bhat of Kailashpora Tankipora in the Habba Kadal area of Srinagar.

On 26 June, Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat of Hanji Gund Beerwah died in a grenade attack at Barbarshah Srinagar.

On 27 June, the wife of SPO Raja Begum and daughter Rafiya Jan were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Awantipora.

On 23 July, Javaid Ahmed Malik was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Lurgam village of Tral.

On 27 July, A youth Meeran Ali was shot dead by unknown persons in Bulbul Lankar Nawakadal Srinagar.

On 9 August, BJP Sarpanch Ghulam Rasool and his wife Jawhara Bano were shot dead in Anantnag.

On 13 August, The 4-year-old nephew of a BJP Rajouri leader Jasbir Singh was killed in a grenade attack.

On 17 August, BJP leader Javaid Ahmed Dar at Brazlo Jagir Kulgam.

On 19 August, Apni Party leader Ghulam Hasan Lone at Devsar Kulgam.

On 17 September, a non-local Shankar Kumar Choudhary of Bihar was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Nehama Kulgam.

On 2nd October, Majid Ahmad Guroo resident of Galwanteng, Chattabal was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar and Mohd. Shafi Dar was shot dead in Batamaloo Srinagar.

On 5 October, Makhan Lal Bindroo, a Kashmiri Pandit and well-known pharmacist in Srinagar and owner of Bindroo medicate was shot outside his shop in Iqbal Park Srinagar.

Virender Paswan, a non-local street vendor from Bihar was shot in Lal Bazar Srinagar and Mohammad Shafi Lone alias Sonu, head of a taxi union in Bandipora district.

On 7 October, Satinder Kaur from Allochi Bagh Principal BHS Eidgah and another teacher Deepak Chand were killed in school premises at Safakadal Srinagar.

On the same day, Shahid Ajaz was killed by security forces when he jumped off the Naka in Anantnag.

On 16 October, Two non-local residents were killed, one in Eidgah Srinagar named Arvind Kumar Sah and another in Litter Pulwama named Sageer Ahmad.

On 17 October, Two non-locals were killed in Ganipora Kulgam identified as Rajan Reshi and Joginder Reshi both residents of Bihar.

On 22 October, a non-local was found dead under circumstances.

On 24 October, Youth identified as Shahid Ahmad Rather was killed in a crossfire near CRPF camp in Zainapora Shopian when he was returning home after buying some home necessities.

On 5 November, two civilians were killed in main Jammu when some unknown gunmen open fire.

On 8 November, Mohammad Ibrahim of Bandipora a salesman working for pandit owner was shot dead in Bohri Kadal outside the shop.

On 15 November, Mohammad Altaf Bhat labeled as OGW was killed in the Hyderpora encounter and later declared as civilian killed in cross-firing as made human shield by militant.

On 22 December, Rouf Ahmad Khan resident of Merjanpora Nawakadal was shot dead outside his residence.
