460th urs of Sufi reformer Hazrat Reshmol begins in Kashmir

The 460th Urs-e-Pak of the revered Sufi saint, Hazrat Baba Hyder Reshi (RA), popularly known as Reshmol Sahib, commenced on April 27 and will continue until May 1, 2025.

Devotees from across South Kashmir have gathered to observe five days of spiritual celebrations marked by deep reverence and devotion.

A special night-long prayer gathering (Shab Khawani) is scheduled to be held on April 29, 2025, starting at 10:30 PM and continuing until Fajr prayers at the Khanqah of Hazrat Baba Hyder Reshi (RA) in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

The event is expected to draw thousands of faithful, who will engage in prayers, recitations, and supplications.

In respect and honor of Hazrat Reshmol Sahib, people across south Kashmir traditionally abstain from consuming meat, chicken, and fish during these five days.

The Urs is being observed with religious fervor, with prayers offered for the stability and peace of Kashmir and the well-being of its people.

Hazrat Baba Hyder Reshi (RA), known for his ascetic life and teachings of simplicity, compassion, and devotion, remains a beloved figure in Kashmir’s spiritual heritage.

A significant contribution of the saint to the region’s religious landscape is the Jamia Masjid of Anantnag, which he built in the 16th century.

The mosque, one of the oldest in south Kashmir, continues to serve as a center of spiritual and communal life to this day.

“All lovers of the Prophet (SAW) and devotees of the saints are invited to participate in the blessed Urs and seek spiritual blessings,” a member of the committee said.
