Five Locals Militants have been likely Killed in the Kiloora Gunfight in South Kashmir’s Shopian District that raged late night on Friday.
Official Sources had told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired upon a joint party of 44RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF triggering a gunfight.

The troops had launched a search operation in the area following an input about Militant presence in the area.
As soon as gunshots were heard, hundreds of people from nearby areas including Malikgund, Kiloora poured out of their homes and threw stones on Government Forces to give a chance to trapped Militants to escape.

In the initial shoot out, one Militant identified as the commander of Lashkar e Taiba- Umar Malik from Shopian’s Malikgund had been shot, his photos went viral on Social Media.
The Army halted the operation after placing search lights and drone cameras around the area to not give any chance to escaped Militants to escape.
The Gunfire resumed at the first light of morning when Militants reportedly opened fire on Troops, the gunfight continued for more than 3 hours post that.

Four more Militants were killed in the exchange of fire.
As per Initial reports, three of the Slain Militants have been identified as Umar Nazir Malik resident of Malikgund in Shopian, Waqar Ahmed of Malikgund, Zeenat of Meemandar Shopian and Arif Ahmed of Pahalgam in Islamabad (Anantnag) District.

The Army has left the spot, however massive clashes are still going on in the areas nearby encounter site.
Internet services have been barred in the Shopian District.
