55-Kilogram Python captured in Jammu Kashmir

A massive python weighing around 55 kilograms was captured on Tuesday in Manpur village, Rajouri district, Jammu & Kashmir, officials confirmed.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Wildlife Department and local police after villagers reported the presence of the snake in the forested area of Nowshera tehsil.

Wildlife officer Rajesh Kumar said the four-and-a-half-metre-long python had initially killed and swallowed a jackal but later regurgitated it. “The snake has now been safely secured and is expected to be released back into the forest,” he added.

The swift response by both police and wildlife teams ensured that the reptile was captured without harm to locals or the animal itself.
