635 companies of troopers to be deployed in Jammu Kashmir for parliament elections

The Election Commission (EC) has approved the deployment of 635 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

This deployment, the second highest after West Bengal which will see 920 companies, aims to ensure peaceful polls in the region.

Jammu  Kashmir will receive increased security measures to prevent violence and maintain order during the elections, reported Deccan Herald.

Overall, approximately 3,400 CAPF companies will be deployed across all states and Union Territories in phases to oversee the electoral process.

This extensive deployment underscores the significance of ensuring the safety of voters, candidates, and election officials.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the responsibility of monitoring the deployment of paramilitary forces will lie with CEO Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, while Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order Vijay Kumar will serve as the Special Police Nodal Officer.
