The Modi-led government has taken an initiative that different teams of Union Ministers will visit the Kashmir valley, news reports said Saturday.
According to multiple news reports, various teams of these ministers will talk to the public, inform them about the steps taken by their government.
This move is significant as it comes amid the reports of a strengthening of Militant organizations after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. Taliban spokesman on Thursday had said that the group will raise the ‘voice of the Muslims of Kashmir’.
The BJP has said that about 70 of its ministers will participate in this program which will last for 9 weeks.
Between 18-24 January last year, 36 Union Ministers have visited Jammu Kashmir. According to reports, the visits of Union Ministers will start from September 10.
Apart from meeting the public, the minister will also meet people from the administration and Panchayati Raj institutions. Step is also being seen as a move to woo voters and the participating candidates ahead of the elections that will be held after the delimitation exercise is complete.
There are a total of 78 ministers in the Union Council of Ministers and 70 of them are said to participate in this program.
Every week, 8 ministers will visit Jammu Kashmir. Four in Jammu and four in Kashmir.
The minister who has the ministry will note down the matters related to his ministry and return and submit the report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
In PMO, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh is coordinating with MHA regarding this entire exercise.
