The militant killed in the encounter at Heff Shermal area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district has been identified as a resident of Shopian district’s Drawani area.
Police officials on Monday said that the Jammu Kashmir Police along RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police had launched a cordon and search operation during which the militants opened fire upon joint forces.
During the exchange of gunfire, one militant was killed while the search operation is still going on, the official said, adding, “one Army man was also injured during the encounter.”
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, his family confirming his identity said that Akir Ahmed aged 22 has been killed during the encounter. “We have received a call from the local Police station to identity him,” a family member said.
The Kashmiriyat reported on 5 September, 2022 that a youth had gone missing from his home in Drawani Imamsahib area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district since 04 Septmber 2022.
Akir Ahmad,22, son of Mohammed Akram Pall, a resident of Drawani Imamsahib in Shopian has been missing from his home since yesterday (04 sepetmber) evening, his family members told The Kashmiriyat.
