A total of 9 Militants have been killed in three days in Jammu Kashmir in encounters with Government Forces.
On Thursday (02 August) Two Local Militants were killed in the encounter that had raged in the Khumriyal area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara District.
The Militants allegedly opened fire when Indian Army laid a siege around a forest area in Khumriyal, Kupwara after which a brief gunfight raged.
Two Militants were killed, One of them has been identified as 28 Year old, Bilal Ahmed from Shat Muqam area of Lolab in Kupwara District of North Kashmir.
Bilal who was orphaned at an early age was a supplier at the fruit mandi in Srinagar for the past few years before he joined Hizb ul Mujahideen in March.
His father Shams-u-din Shah, was a militant and was killed in an encounter in Kupwara in 1992.
Another Militant has been identified as per initial reports as Zahoor Ahmed Mir, a resident of Thayan, Kalroosa area in Kupwara District.
On Friday (August 03) Two Militants and one trooper were killed in a gunfight that raged between Militants and Government Forces at Behrampora area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla District.
One Militant was identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar of Naseerabad Sopore while as another one as Khursheed Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Nabi Malik who was missing from Arabal Nikas, Pulwama since Tuesday morning.
Late night on Friday, another encounter raged in South Kashmir’s Shopian District where initially the commander of Lashkar e Taiba identified as Umar Malik of Malikgund Shopian, was killed.
Later four more Militants were killed, three of them were identified as Waqar Ahmad Sheikh of Malikgund Shopian, Arshad Ahmad of Ganopora and Aijaz Ahmad Paul of Lousdanew Shopian.
At least 125 Militants have been killed this year during Anti Militancy operations launched by Government Forces.
Despite the Indian Army having launched ‘Operation All Out’ and intensifying the Anti Militancy operations, the local Militancy is on rise, 115 boys (At least) have joined Militant ranks this year till now.
Militancy this year has seen a huge rise after the three encounter that were held on a single day on April 01 in South Kashmir ending with the death of 13 local Militants.
The Himalayan region has seen large number of youth picking up arms since an armed insurgency began against the Indian rule in 1988.
Since their partition both India and Pakistan have fought three wars claiming the region in its entirety
