9 teachers suspended in Kishtwar for ‘not hoisting’ tricolur on Aug 15

The JK admin placed nine teachers from two Government schools under suspension for not hoisting the national flag in their schools on Independence Day.

According to news reports, nine teachers posted at Middle School Batwari and Primary School Khandole in Kishtwar were placed under suspension by Zonal Education Officer (CEO) Inderwal on August 16.

A three-member committee has been constituted to inquire into the matter and submit its report within a week.

The centrally run administration of Jammu Kashmir had ordered Government schools across the region to hoist flags. The admin ordered, “All Government buildings must hoist tricolor to celebrate Aug 15 marking the 75th independence day of India.”

“We received information from ZEO Inderwal on 16th August, suggesting that nine teachers of two schools in Kishtwar had not hoisted the national flag in their respective educational institutions. After getting information, it came to fore that the teachers had failed to hoist the flag and subsequently they were placed under suspension with immediate effect”, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kishtwar Sudarshan Kumar Sharma was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

The nine suspended teachers have been identified as Rafiq Ahmed, Pyare Lal, Ayaz Ahmed, Sajjad Ahmed Wani, Farooq Ahmed Bumal, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani, Mohammed Sikandar, Shaida Banoo and Ghulam Hussain Butt.
