Three truck-bound Kashmiris were robbed of 99,000 rupees and three mobile phones in Delhi’s Azadpur Mandi on Sunday morning.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat Gowhar Yousuf of the Drubgam area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir said that they were asleep when the thieves stole three mobile phones and cash of over 99,000 from their vehicle.

“We reached Azadpur Mandi around 6:30 A.M on Sunday morning, however, they do not allow trucks to get inside the Mandi on Sundays, so we decided to sleep inside the truck. At around 10 A.M, a friend of ours woke us up and we saw that the front glass of the truck had been taken off and we had been robbed,” Gowhar said.

He speculates that they had been sprayed with some chemical which is why they could not wake up when the thieves looted them of all the money and their three cell phones.

We are still in Delhi and plan to lodge a complaint with the Police who can access the CCTV footage outside the Mandi. “We had parked our vehicle bearing the registration number JK 13H 2567, the Mandi does not have access to the footage of CCTV cameras installed outside the Mandi,” he said.

He said that his friend who was sleeping in the same truck was also looted. “A cellphone and cash worth 13,000 was stolen from him,” he told The Kashmiriyat.
