Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha engaged with youth from the North-Eastern states visiting Jammu under the Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living (SEIL) initiative, organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Addressing the gathering at the Convention Centre, he urged young people to work collectively toward a developed (Viksit) India.
Sinha emphasized the importance of including marginalized communities in the nation’s progress, encouraging youth to align their aspirations with national development goals. He praised ABVP’s efforts in fostering national unity, highlighting SEIL’s role since its inception in 1965 in bridging geographical and cultural distances. The program, operating under the motto One Nation – One People – One Culture, aims to strengthen emotional ties between North-East India and the rest of the country.
A distinctive aspect of SEIL is that each participant stays with a local family, experiencing their culture firsthand. Sinha noted that this approach nurtures deeper bonds of unity and understanding. He expressed hope that the values of togetherness learned through the program would remain with the students throughout their lives.
The Lieutenant Governor also reflected on the North-East’s development trajectory under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, paying tribute to key figures from the region who have contributed to nation-building. He urged people to visit the North-East to appreciate its natural beauty and hospitality.
During the event, students from the North-Eastern states shared their experiences of the SEIL program, while host families were felicitated for their participation. This year’s edition saw 30 students from Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim visiting Jammu. Their itinerary included cultural programs, interactive sessions, and educational tours exploring the region’s heritage.
The event was attended by legislators Yudhvir Sethi and Dr. Narinder Singh Raina, along with senior ABVP members, including Dr. Nagesh Thakur, Dr. Ajay Sharma, and Sanak Shrivats, alongside a large gathering of youth
