Now centre bans Mirwaiz led Awami Action Committee

After Itehadul ul Musilmeen, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) declared the Awami Action Committee (AAC), led by Mirwaiz, as an unlawful association under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

This decision follows accusations that AAC has been involved in “activities harmful to the sovereignty, security, and integrity of India.”

In an official notification, the MHA stated that AAC members have been supporting militancy, promoting anti-India narratives, and raising funds for separatist activities in Jammu Kashmir.

The government also accused the organization of “inciting public disorder, fostering hatred against constitutional authority, and advocating for secessionism.”

The authorities alleged that AAC encouraged violence and efforts to destabilize law and order, while attempting to create discontent among the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The government warned that failure to curb these activities could lead to further challenges to the region’s integration with India.

As a result, the government used its powers under Section 3(1) of the UAPA to ban the organization for five years, with the option for revocation or modification under Section 4 of the Act. This move is part of the ongoing effort to target groups that pose a threat to national security and territorial integrity.
