Member of Parliament Syed Rahullah has urged authorities to release Kashmiri political prisoners, highlighting their prolonged incarceration and the suffering of their families. In a statement shared on social media ahead of Jumu’atul-Wida, he called attention to activists and truth-tellers who remain behind bars in various Indian jails.
Rahullah cited individual cases, including that of Khurram, who has been imprisoned for four years, separated from his children, and Irfan, who was detained just a month after his wedding and has now spent two years in captivity. He lamented that these detentions continue with little public awareness or international attention.
“As Ramadan’s sacred nights approach, let our prayers rise to Allah SWT for their freedom and an end to injustice,” he wrote, urging people to remember not just Kashmiri prisoners but also others across India, including Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid, who remain incarcerated under stringent laws.
Drawing parallels between Kashmir and global struggles, he linked these detentions to broader patterns of suppression, referencing the suffering in Gaza. He called on people to dedicate prayers on Jumu’atul-Wida, the last Friday of Ramadan, to those unjustly imprisoned.
“Dua is our weapon. May Allah SWT hasten their release and grant them justice,” he added.
