A man and a woman were killed after a lightning strike hit Dugga area of tehsil Arnas, a remote area of the Reasi district, during a sudden thunderstorm on Friday. Nearly 40 sheep and goats were also killed in the incident.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that the victims were locals who were out in the fields when the lightning struck. The storm, which arrived without warning, triggered panic among residents in the area.
Authorities have reached the site and are assessing the damage.
As per the officials who spoke to The Kashmiriyat, the deceased have been identified as Shahnaz Begum W/O Mukhtar Ahmed and Rashid Ahmed S/O Kalu, both R/O Dugga.
The police party of Police Post Dhansal has reached the spot.
