Rajasthan: Dalit youth sexually assaulted, beaten, urinated upon by upper-caste men

A 19-year-old Dalit man in Rajasthan’s Sikar district was allegedly assaulted by two upper-caste men while he was watching a wedding procession.

According to reports, the two men called the victim to a nearby bus stand and, without any provocation or warning, beat him, urinated on him, and sexually assaulted him.

The incident occurred on April 8, but the victim only reported it to the police on April 16, after his family filed a formal complaint.

A case was subsequently registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The victim claimed that the attackers used casteist slurs during the assault and threatened to circulate a video of the incident if he spoke out.

“They called me to the bus stand, where they beat me, urinated on me, and used caste-based slurs. They also threatened to harm my father, who is abroad,” the victim said in his complaint.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Arvind Kumar confirmed the case, stating, “We have registered an FIR in the matter. A medical examination of the victim has been done, and his statement has been recorded. The investigation is ongoing.”

The incident has sparked political outrage, with the Congress party accusing the BJP government of failing to ensure the safety of citizens.

“This is a shameful incident that exposes the lawlessness under the current government,” said Congress leader Ashok Gehlot.
