45-year-old man from Kupwara shot by unknown gunmen succumbs

A 45-year-old social worker who was shot by an unknown gunman at his residence in Kandi Khass area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday evening succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.

A Police official had earlier confirmed that the deceased has been identified as Ghulam Rasool Magray, a resident of Kandi Khass and a known social worker in the district.

Following the attack, he was shifted to GMC Handwara for treatment but could not survive.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and launched an investigation to ascertain the motive behind the attack and identify the assailant.

In September 2020, NIA and IT DEPARTMENT has raided his home and shop. As per the official press release, Magray was also involved in LoC trade but his family said that he disassociated from the trade last year and now he is running a provisional store.
