BJP leader says army bows at Modi’s feet, faces backlash, clarifies statement

Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda has sparked controversy with his recent statement suggesting that both the nation and its armed forces “bow at the feet” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This comment, made during a public address in Jabalpur, has drawn sharp criticism from the Congress party, which labeled it as “cheap and shameful,” accusing Devda of undermining the valor of the armed forces and demanded his resignation.

In his speech, Devda praised the armed forces for their role in Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike following the Pahalgam terror attack. He stated, “Under Modi ji’s leadership, the country has responded to terrorists in their own language. Our army, security forces, and all of us feel safe under his leadership.”

In response, Devda accused the Congress of twisting his words, clarifying that he intended to express gratitude towards the armed forces and commend the Prime Minister’s leadership.

He emphasized that his statement was meant to highlight national unity and the collective effort in combating terrorism.

This incident adds to a series of controversies involving political figures making contentious statements about the military, raising concerns about the politicization of national institutions.
