Woman found dead under mysterious conditions in Kulgam

A woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Pombay area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district early Wednesday, prompting a police investigation.

Locals who discovered the body informed The Kashmiriyat that the woman was lying motionless near an orchard. “We saw her lying alone near the field. At first, we thought she might have fainted, but when no one responded to our calls, we immediately informed the police,” a resident said.

The body was shifted to the district hospital in Kulgam for medico-legal procedures. Authorities have identified the deceased as Fatima Begum, daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Vehil, Shopian.

An official told The Kashmiriyat, “Police have taken cognizance of the case and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for postmortem, and we are waiting for the report to determine the cause of death.”
