
Rumours surrounding the death of celebrated Kashmiri comedian Bashir Kotur triggered widespread concern across the region on Saturday morning.
However, the comedian’s family has now issued a clarification, firmly denying the reports and confirming that Kotur is alive, though battling serious health complications.
“The news claiming that famous Kashmiri comedian actor Bashir Kotur is no more is completely false — he is alive but currently battling serious health issues,” the family said in a statement shared with media outlets and on social media platforms.
Bashir Kotur, whose real name is Bashir Ahmad Bhat, has long been a household name in Kashmir for his iconic comedic roles and satirical performances. Over the past few weeks, he has been undergoing treatment for multiple ailments involving the liver, kidneys, and stomach.
Friends, colleagues, and fans have expressed both relief and continued concern over his health, urging people not to circulate unverified information and instead pray for his recovery.
The family has requested privacy and dignity during this difficult time, and has appealed for public support, emotional and financial, as Kotur continues to receive treatment.
