‘No ceasefire violation by Pakistan anywhere’: Indian army denies media reports

The Indian Army on Tuesday refuted reports claiming that Pakistani forces had violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu Kashmir.

In a statement issued late evening, the Army said, “There has been no ceasefire violation along the LoC in Poonch today,” countering media and social media claims that reported unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops.

The clarification came after PTI earlier cited unnamed sources alleging that Pakistani forces had opened fire on forward Indian posts in the region.

These reports had circulated widely, gaining traction due to the sensitive timing, marking six years since the Indian government revoked Article 370, which had granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The Army’s statement appears to be an effort to dispel tensions amid a backdrop of heightened military activity earlier this year. Between May 7 and May 10, Indian and Pakistani forces engaged in intense exchanges after India launched missile strikes across the border in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack.

Those clashes led to the deaths of at least 28 individuals, including 13 in Poonch district alone.

Following those hostilities, both nations reportedly reached a mutual understanding to de-escalate the situation.

As of now, no official comment has been issued by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on the matter.
