Jammu Kashmir reports 50 new dengue cases, total climbs to 970 in 2025

Jammu Kashmir recorded 50 fresh dengue cases on Saturday, taking the cumulative tally for 2025 to 970, according to official data.

Health officials said 392 tests were conducted during the day, of which 30 men and 20 women tested positive. Seven of the new infections were in children under 18 years, while 43 were adults.

Jammu district reported the highest number of cases with 23 fresh infections, raising its total to 394 this year. Kathua followed with 19 new cases, taking its tally to 275. Udhampur and Samba reported two cases each, while Reasi, Rajouri, and Kashmir logged one case each. One infection was traced to a patient from another state.

Since January, 14,152 dengue tests have been conducted across Jammu and Kashmir, compared to 13,109 tests during the same period last year. The positivity rate has been lower in 2025, with 970 cases recorded so far against 1,598 by the same date in 2024.

Clinically, the situation remains stable. No fresh hospital admissions were reported on Saturday, though seven patients are currently under treatment. Since January, 31 patients have required hospitalisation.

Officials said vector-control measures and awareness campaigns are being carried out in high-burden districts, and the situation continues to be monitored closely.
