Three Civilians Injured During Clashes in Kulgam- Partially Barred Internet Services Completely Barred

Scores of people have been injured during the violent clashes that erupted as an encounter raged at Khud Hanji Pora area of Mazgam in  Damhal Hanjipora of Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Hospital officials told The Kashmiriyat that three people with pellet injuries were brought to the hospital at District Hospital of Kulgam, the civilians were injured in violent clashes that erupted near the encounter site.

Hundreds of civilians including women, in an attempt to save the Militants, marched towards the encounter site, where the forces deployed prevented them from doing so, as they fired tear smoke shells and pellets at them, in the action of the forces, several civilians were injured, three of whom were taken to the hospital.

A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that the 34 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force and SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police laid a siege around several houses in this Kulgam area following a specific input about Militant movement in the area, ” the Militants were asked to surrender, however they opened fire, to which the forces retaliated.”

Two Militants were killed in this exchange of fire, and a house razed to the ground, arms and ammunition has also been recovered from the deceased militants, a Police official told The Kashmiriyat.

One of the Militant has been identified as a resident of the Shopian district in South Kashmir.

Immediately after the exchange of gunfire started, authorities snapped down Mobile internet services in the Kulgam and Shopian Districts, mobile internet speed has been reduced in Jammu Kashmir since August 05 last year, when the special status of Jammu Kashmir was abrogated by the Modi Government.
