A 17- year-old girl drowned after slipping into a canal of a power house at Fraw area of Gund in Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday.
A Police official confirming the incident to The Kashmiriyat identified the girl as Muneeza Daughter of Bashir Ahmad Kasana a resident of Kaniwas village of Sumbal Gund.
He said the body of the deceased was retrieved from the canal after hours of joint efforts by locals and the police.
The body was shifted to Sub District Hospital Kangan for medico-legal formalities, he said, adding that the body was later handed over to the family for last rites.
